Google teams up with the Korean film buffs at BIFF
Tuesday, September 15, 2015
With 303 films from 75 countries, the lineup for the 20th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) taking place on October 1-10 is packed with enough fantastic movies to keep even the most discerning film buff happy. But what if you can’t hop on a plane and get to Busan, South Korea? Never fear, we’ve designed two unique digital experiences to bring the best of the festival to the comfort of your couch.
1. “Google Play inside BIFF” - Experience the Festival Online
A webpage, “Google Play inside BIFF,” will bring all the action of the festival to the world: users will be able to revisit 360-degree panoramic view of the opening ceremony — a first, as far as we know for any festival — and take a virtual walk through the venue, and find out about actors and directors and their films. Video of the opening ceremony will be available on Google Play inside BIFF throughout October.
2. The best of BIFF at Google Play
For five weeks from September 24, movie fans will be able to find and watch the best of BIFF movies from the past 20 years.
We want to help BIFF and other splendid Korean cultural content go global using our technologies. With the fusion between culture and digital technology, movie fans will be able to enjoy the festival in much more diverse ways.
