We all know that there’s so much more to Japan than
Fuji,
Muji,
sumo and
sakura, the beautiful cherry blossoms that come out at this time of year. But what about the latest Japanese fashion, design and culture that startle locals and visitors alike?
We’re inviting people from around the world to capture everything that’s memorable about Japan on
Cool Japan on Google+. We want to help share both the best and also the quirkiest aspects of Japan on a single web page. You can let the rest of the world know what you think makes Japan cool, by posting your photos to the site with the hashtags #100tokyo or #cooljapan. Your pictures might also appear on our partner site,
100 tokyo, a project of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Here’s a look at some of the things that we think are, well, cool:
Jicoo Floating Bar is a spaceship-like boat designed by
anime cartoonist
Leiji Matsumoto that gives visitors to Tokyo a spectacular view of the city skyline from just above sea level.
There’s also
Unbrella, an inverted umbrella which, thanks to its smart design, keeps things around it from getting wet when it’s closed. This is extremely useful when you step onto a busy Tokyo train or into your car on a rainy day!
We look forward to finding out about what you think makes Japan cool!
