Do you remember what Singapore’s skyline looked like last year? How about five years ago? Now you can check out the dramatic change in the city’s landscape as well as other destinations across Asia by viewing historical Street View imagery in
Google Maps.

You can also see how crisis-affected regions such as Christchurch, New Zealand and Tohoku, Japan stand three years after the devastating earthquakes. We hope these new layers of imagery help communities preserve their memories as they recover and rebuild.

Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami Destruction, Japan, Jul 2008 - Aug 2011 |
You can also explore the beauty of the Japanese countryside throughout the seasons.

To get your time travels started, simply search for a place on Street View in Google Maps on desktop. If you see a clock icon in the upper left-hand portion of a Street View image, click on it and move the slider through time. By toggling through the different thumbnails, you’ll be able to see that same place in previous years or seasons.
Historical Street View imagery can help people visualize just how quickly Asia is growing and transforming, and we hope to continue building a comprehensive digital mirror (and in this case time capsule!) of the region. Stay tuned for more panoramic imagery of Asia Pacific to come soon.
