187 million voters are heading to the polls in Indonesia today, the world’s third largest democracy. In this year’s elections, over one-third of voters are casting ballots for the very first time. Many of them are quite tech and mobile savvy, which is why we’ve p
artnered with NGOs to encourage developers to create apps that provide easy access to information about the elections, the candidates, and their political platforms.
We’re also commemorating this occasion on
Google.co.id with a special doodle that depicts a vote being cast in the Indonesian way — using a nail to punch a hole in the ballot paper, before it is folded and dropped into a box.
Throughout the day, check out our Elections Hub at
Google.co.id/elections to stay on top of the latest news and videos as the votes come in.
